Position Title: Data Modeler - GEOINT Standards (Ontologist) Expert
Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI
Location: Chantilly, VA

Position Description

The Expert Data Modeler for GEOINT Standards supports the Lead Data Modeler in providing GEOINT standards Data Modeling in UML, OWL, SKOS, GML, JSON, and XML for existing and future GEOINT Standards to ensure current and updated standards content meet capability delivery dates for NGA & NSG initiatives and solution providers.

Key Duties:

  • Serve as a Subject Mater Expert (SME) on development of GEOINT Standards with the objective of facilitating compliance and interoperability through integration of NSG & ASG requirements while reducing technical and schedule risk associated with Data, Metadata, and Ontology standards.
  • Ensure current and future GEOINT standards are evolving towards greater use of ontologies and semantic structures.
  • Develop capability-based standards profiles and reference architectures to enable search, discovery, access, retrieval, integrated intelligence, and advanced analytics, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the BFO upper-level ontology, and the CCO mid-level ontologies.
  • Has built logical data models for GEOINT data used by NGA for imagery and geospatial data production and/or analysis.

Desired Qualifications:

• Has constructed domain ontologies for geospatial data
• Familiarity with the types of data employed in GEOINT production and analysis

Education:

  • Master’s degree plus 10 years of experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years’ experience, or
  • Associates degree plus 14 years’ experience, or
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a related field

Certifications Required:

• Certified Knowledge Specialist in Business Taxonomy & Ontology Leadership, Knowledge Management Institute

• Ontology classes and certifications from the NCOR (National Center for Ontological Research)
